Provident Mexico recognised for CSR activities for the eleventh year running

Provident, one of Mexico’s leading providers of home credit and part of the International Personal Finance (IPF) group, is delighted to announce it has been presented with a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award for the eleventh consecutive year, reflecting its exceptional long-term commitment to CSR activities. The award, which was granted by the Mexican Centre for Philanthropy (CEMEFI) and the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility (ALIARSE), recognises companies and organisations in four areas: company workplace, business ethics, community engagement and environmental preservation.

Provident Mexico’s efforts are aimed at supporting and empowering communities in which it operates through its “Causas” (Causes) programme, which focuses on financial education, community investment and environmental protection.

The programme has seen over 1,300 Provident volunteers support a number of successful CSR campaigns. In 2015, over 7,000 people participated in Provident’s ‘Let’s Talk Money’ workshops, which provided young people and their parents with knowledge to help them better manage their personal finances.

As a customer-focused business providing mainstream financial services to underserved customers, IPF places a strong emphasis on responsible and long-term lending, and on supporting the communities in which it operates. This means developing community initiatives that make a positive, long-term impact and empowering consumers to make informed choices about their financial affairs.

“As a company we endeavour to contribute to the well-being of Mexican families, not just through our business activities but through different initiatives to support the development of local communities”, Robert Husband, Country Manager at Provident Mexico, said. “Receiving the Corporate Social Responsibility Award for the eleventh year in a row shows we are a responsible, ethical and inclusive lender and committed to bringing long-term benefits to the communities that we serve.”

At the end of 2015 Provident Mexico had 851,000 customers and credit issued increased year-on-year by 20%.
