Key milestones
We are now more than 10 years old with established, fast growing businesses in six countries. Until July 2007, we formed the international home credit arm of Provident Financial plc - the UK's leading provider of home credit which was founded in 1880.
The growth of our international operations has been a great success - here are the key milestones in our development so far.
1996
We begin research into the feasibility of introducing home credit to new, international markets. This work, together with new product research, continues today.
1997
Provident Polska welcomes its first home credit customer in Poland. Later that year, a pilot is launched in the Czech Republic too.
2001
Hungary and Slovakia become the next two countries to offer home credit to customers.
2003
We cross the Atlantic to set up operations in the Puebla region of Mexico.
2005
Our Mexican business expands into the Guadalajara region in Mexico.
2006
We move into Romania
2007
International Personal Finance plc is established following the demerger from Provident Financial plc.
2008
We begin a pilot operation in Russia.
